In this article I will describe how you can monitor your CentOS 5.2 server with munin and monit. munin produces nifty little graphics about nearly every aspect of your server (load average, memory usage, CPU usage, MySQL throughput, eth0 traffic, etc.) without much configuration, whereas monit checks the availability of services like Apache, MySQL, Postfix and takes the appropriate action such as a restart if it finds a service is not behaving as expected. The combination of the two gives you full monitoring: graphics that lets you recognize current or upcoming problems (like "We need a bigger server soon, our load average is increasing rapidly."), and a watchdog that ensures the availability of the monitored services.

Upgrade Ubuntu 8.04 To 8.10 Server

อัพเกรด Ubuntu เป็นเวอร์ชั่นใหม่ครับ ไม่กี่ขั้นตอนก็เสร็จแล้ว เริ่มทำกันเลย

sudo su

Then run

apt-get update

and install the package update-manager-core:

ใช้ ubuntu กู้ไฟล์ จากวินโดวส์เสียๆ

เคยไม๊ครับ ที่คุณใช้วินโดวส์แล้วมันเกิดพังขึ้นมา ทำอะไรไม่ได้ เข้าไม่ได้ ใช้งานไม่แต่ แต่เกิดว่ามีไฟล์สำคัญอยู่แล้วเกิดจะต้องใช้งานขึ้นมาอย่างเร่งด่วนเสียด้วย สิ จะทำยังไงดีล่ะ ก็ Howto นี้จะแนะนำเทคนิคเล็กๆ ในการใช้งาน Ubuntu เพื่อเข้าไปสำรองไฟล์จากวินโดวส์พังๆของคุณ ให้นำออกมาใช้งานได้ครับ แต่ให้ดี ถ้าเป็นไปได้ก็ใช้ ubuntu ไปเลยแหล่ะคับ ดีแล้ว http://www.ubuntuclub.com/node/1039

ปรับเวลาให้ตรง กับสถาบันมาตรวิทยาแห่งชาติ

วิธีปรับเวลา ใน ubuntu มาให้ดูง่ายๆครับ ถือว่าเก็บไว้เป็น reference

1. ไปที่ System >> Administration >> Time and Date
2. เลือก Time Zone >> Asia/Bangkok
3. Configuration : Keep synchronize with internet server
จากนั้นกด Select Server
4. เพิ่ม Server ต่อไปนี้ลงไป ในช่อง Add
time1.nimt.or.th
หรือ
time2.nimt.or.th
หรือ
time3.nimt.or.th
แล้วเลือก เอา Server อื่นๆ ออกครับ

จากนั้นก็ปิดออกมา เพียงเท่านี้ เครื่องของเราก็ได้เวลาตรงตามสถาบันมาตรวิทยาแห่งชาติแล้วครับ :)
